Short Ascension - Signs of short ascension are often found intercepted in horoscopes, They are Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini. Interception is neither a dignity nor a debility.
SHORT ASCENSION - Signs of shorter oblique ascension, viz. CAPRICORN, AQUARIUS, PISCES, ARIES, TAURUS ,GEMINI.

Signs of Short Ascension - In the northern hemisphere, these spring and winter signs include Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Capricorn and Aquarius.
Signs of Short Ascension
are those which rise in Less than two hours. For example, in Latitude 40°N, approximately that of New York, Leo may require as much as 2h 45m to rise, while Aries and Pisces may rise in 1h 10m.
Ascension: (short and long.) Signs of long ascension take more time to rise than signs of short ascension. Depending on the obliquity of the ecliptic, some zodiac signs rise over the horizon more rapidly than other signs.
Because of the alternation of signs of long and short ascension throughout the daily rotation of the Earth, equal units of arc rise over the horizon of an individual on the Earth's periphery, in disproportionate units of time; and vice versa.
Signs of long ascension require more time to rise than signs of short ascension. In the northern hemisphere, the signs of long ascension are Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius.
In the southern hemisphere, those same signs are the signs of short ascension and the signs of long ascension there are Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, and Gemini — the signs of short ascension in the northern latitudes.
In the northern middle latitudes, the signs Cancer to Sagittarius are referred to as signs of Long Ascension and the signs Capricorn to Gemini are called those of Short Ascension. In the southern middle latitudes it is the opposite.
Right ascension = long ascension: Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius.
Oblique ascension = short ascension: Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini.

Jupiter also squares the Part of Fortune in Gemini in the 12th, a good aspect for a writer of occult subjects. (Lilly would say that this square in signs of short ascension is similar to a sextile).

The so-called signs of 'long ascension' in the tropical Zodiac are Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, while those of 'short ascension' are Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini.
