What is the Sidereal Zodiac? In regard to Rasis or Signs, the Sidereal Zodiac is made up of 30 degree portions beginning with the Nakshatra of Aswini as measured from certain fixed stars.

Sidereal Astrology-Astrology associated with the observable, zodiacal constellations using the Cardinal angles of North, South, East and West only (no house system).

Sidereal Zodiac: Based on the division of the circle of twelve constellations: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces; the basis for sidereal astrology.

Sidereal Zodiac - Sidereal zodiac moves with the constellations. When the constellation of Aries moved, the constellation of Pisces moved into the position it vacated. Sidereal now calls the area of the chart traditionally ruled by Aries Pisces.

Sidereal Time Time in relations to the fixed stars, rather than clock time.

What is Sidereal Astrology?
Sidereal comes from sidus, the Latin word for star. That's meaningful, because sidereal astrology is a system that sets the ecliptic by the position of the fixed stars, rather than the Vernal Equinox.

Sidereal time is easily found on an astrolabe. Local sidereal time is the hour angle of the vernal equinox at Aries 0° (the so-called, "First Point of Aries").

Sidereal: "of the stars;" said of astrologers who believe that the constellations rather than the signs are interpretively significant.

Sidereal astrology uses the actual constellation in which the sun is located at the moment of birth as its basis; tropical astrology uses a 30-degree sector of the zodiac as its basis.

That in which the point of reference is a star - as the most nearly fixed point in the universe as it appears from the Earth.

Sidereal chart represents what is the connection of the stars and the planets so it cannot be ignored. So if you are tropically Sagittarius and sidereally Scorpio, it will be important for the astrologer to be aware of it.

In the sidereal Zodiac (used by Vedic astrologers) the constellations do correspond with the signs.

Tropical Zodiac and Sidereal Zodiac Tropical Zodiac (Seasonal Zodiac) begins with the Vernal Point, and the Spring Equinox, when the Sun is directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer.

The mean synodic, sidereal, anomalistic, and draconic lunar periods were laid down in cuneiform tablets by the Babylonians and are not far off from modern astronomical calculations (Cumont, 1912, page 36, Babylon and Greece).

First of all, Vedic Astrology is technically termed a sidereal system whereas Western Astrology is tropical.

Competing house systems is one of the main problems in astrology from that point of view, quite apart from the problem of the sidereal versus tropical zodiacs. How do we decide which house system to use, let alone which zodiac?
