Succedent Houses: From the Latin succedere, to follow; houses two, five, eight and eleven, which follow the angular houses.
Succedent: said of the houses following the angular houses, namely the second, fifth, eighth and eleventh houses. Planets in succedent houses are thought to be associated with the one's emotional and desire nature.

The eleventh, second, eighth and fifth houses are called succedent ("following" the angles), while the third, twelfth, ninth and sixth are termed cadent ("falling away" from the angles). The succedents are next in strength.
