Summer Solstice - this is a time signifying warmer days. Shed unnecessary layers and enjoy being outside after months of rain .

The Summer Solstice (the longest day) occurs on 21 June 2004 at 21h 00m as the sun enters the zodiac sign of Cancer.

The Summer Solstice is the time when the Sun halts over the Tropic of Cancer (23°N26') on its tropical journey north, then after some three days, turns in its tracks and begins its journey south, towards the equator.

Both the winter and summer solstice sunrise and sunset positions are called xolkat b'e, "change of path or road." This term, unlike our own Latin-derived term, solstice or "sun stand," stresses the back-and-forth movement of the sun.

The ecliptic circle on the rete is offset so it just touches the Tropic of Capricorn at the summer solstice and touches the Tropic of Cancer at the winter solstice.
