Tropical Signs - Cancer and Capricorn.
Tropical Zodiac - Zodiacal system based on the movements of the seasons, as opposed to the Sidereal Zodiac, which is based upon actual stellar positions.

Tropical Signs. Cancer and Capricorn. v. Signs.
Tropical Year. The Solar Year; the period of 365d, 5h, 48m, 4.5s, during which the Sun's centre passes from one Vernal Equinox to the next.

Sidereal astrology basically relates the planetary positions to the star fields and not the tropical signs. The main thrust of sidereal planetary positions associate with the 4 primary angles to reflect their strength in the chart.

Taking the tropical signs used by western astrology, in the northern hemisphere the signs of Pisces and Aries rise in considerably less time than Virgo and Libra (in the sidereal Zodiac these are shifted to Aquarius and Pisces, Leo and Virgo).

The classical Greeks named the Tropical Signs for the constellations that, at that time, approximately coincided. Due to the Precession of the Equinoxes, the Signs and the Constellations no longer coincide. See also Zodiac.
