Tropical Zodiac - Tropical zodiac assumes that the constellation of Aries is still the same. It does not change the names of the areas of the chart to reflect the movements of the constellations. This is the form of astrology that we use.
The 12 zodiac signs, measured by Earth's seasons. The sign of Aries begins at the Sun's position at the Vernal Equinox (in April). Cancer begins at the Sun's position at the Solstice (June: summer for northern hemisphere, winter for southern hemisphere).

To convert a Tropical zodiac into a Sidereal zodiac one needs to know the current ayanamsa and subtract it from the tropical longitudes of the planets. The most widely accepted ayanamsa in India was introduced by N.C. Lahiri. He calculates the precessional rate to be around 48 seconds per year.
When using the Tropical zodiac, archetypal energy is related to its own basic triad, the house, the sign and planet. There are two additional significators, the quality, cardinal, fixed or mutable and its element, fire, water, air and earth.
Hence, the Western Tropical Zodiac is called 'Sayan' (with Ayan) i.e., with the procession of equinoxes and the Sidereal Zodiac is called 'Nirayan' (without Ayan) where this is ignored.
