Vargottama - Being placed in the same sign in the Birth chart as in the Navamsha chart.

 


Vedic astrologers generally use the Shad Vargas or six fold divisions to know the strength of the planets. They are 1) Rasi 2) Hora 3) Drekkana 4) Navamsa 5) Dwadasamsa, and 6) Thrimsamsa.

Varga There are 16 divisional modes (vargas) of the natal chart in Jyotish (Vedic) astrology. Based on fractions of each sign, each varga gives light on a different side of the character.

The ninth harmonic - in Vedic astrology we call it vargas or divisional charts; we divide a 30 degree sign by 9, and you get 3 degrees 20 minutes.

There is an additional set of birth charts called the "shodasavargas" which give the practitioner of Vedic Astrology 15 extra charts to examine.

5.Varga charts are given alot of attention these days, but it's important to read the rasi chart. This in itself can take a lifetime of practice to read properly, so there is no need to dabble in vargas unless one is an expert in the natal chart.
