The Vedic astrology system differs from the western astrology in many ways .The analysis done in Indian astrology system is more in- depth than the western or the Chinese astrology.
In Indian Vedic astrology there are 12 Zodiac Signs and each Zodiac Sign has Functional Benefic and Malefic Planets. Rahu and Ketu are malefic planets for all Zodiac Signs. Least number of malefic planets are for Gemini Ascendant.
Unlike astrology in the west, Vedic astrology deals with more natural matters and is not used to find lucky numbers for a lottery or to win a bingo game.
The following is the glossary of the astrological terms used in the Indian Vedic astrology. Please note that in the Sanskrit language several of these words have other meanings but here only the relevant astrological meaning is given.
Vedic Astrology
In Sanskrit, the word Jyotish is a combination of the words Jyoti, meaning light and ishta, meaning deity. It is therefore loosely interpreted as the study of the Sovereignty of "Light".
Vedic Astrology. A system of astrological interpretation that uses the sidereal zodiac and does not use orbs.
Venus. The planetary ruler of Libra and Taurus.
