Vikaratana -A name given to Sun because his radiance was shorn by Vishwakarma to make him adaptable to his wife, Sanjna, who could not bear Sun's inherent effulgence.

[Vi-krit = to cut into parts, or to divide]. 'Shorn of his rags.' A name given to Sun because his radiance was shorn by Vishwakarma (q.v.) to make him adaptable to his wife, Sanjna, who could not bear Sun's inherent effulgence.
