The Wheel of the Year
For modern Witches, Yule (from the Anglo-Saxon yula, meaning "wheel" of the year) is usually celebrated on the actual winter solstice, which may vary by a few days, though it usually occurs on or around December 21.

Wiccan practices are based on the "Wheel of the Year," with four major festivals on fixed dates, four lesser festivals at the solstices and equinoxes, and sometimes minor festivals centering around phases of the moon.
