In the Central Time Zone time is regulated to the 90th meridian which is 6 hours earlier than Greenwich.
In the Mountain Time Zone timepieces are governed according to the 105th meridian, 7 HOURS earlier than Greenwich Mean Time.

You need to find out if there is/was Daylight Saving Time at the date on the year in question and then simply subtract one hour from your clock time to get true zone time.
In modern use, apparent solar time must be corrected to zone time by compensating for the equation of time and the difference in longitude from the center of the time zone.
