Don't confuse it with Alnath! Remember that Alnath is at the tip of TAURUS' left horn. Go further than Alnath and you'll see that Capella easily outshines it.

This star is also known as Alnath, or Nath. The name derives from the Arabic name Al Natih, "The Butting One." The name is appropriate to the position of the star at the tip of the western horn of Taurus.
The star is also know as Gamma Aurigae.

Marking the left horn of the bull is the star Alnath (also spelled Elnath), a name that comes from the Arabic meaning ‘the butting one'.

[7932] beta Tauri, the second brightest star, lies near the border with the constellation Auriga. It is sometimes called El Nath or Alnath ("the bull's horns"). El Nath is a B class star evolving into a giant. It lies about 131 light-years from Earth.

The brightest star (Alpha Tau) in Taurus is Aldebaran, which is one of the bull's eyes (Aldebaran is the 13th brightest star in the sky). The second-brightest star in Taurus (Beta Tau) is Alnath, the third brightest (Gamma Tau) is Hyadum I.

star Capella (the sixth brightest in the night sky) means "she-goat" and the three stars immediately below it are known as "the kids". Auriga is easily spotted just above the horns of Taurus, the bull. The two constellations share the star Alnath.
