ARNEB (Alpha Leporis). Orion is so magnificent a constellation that, between the Great Hunter and his ensemble of bright northern winter constellations, we hardly ever look at the rest of his neighborhood.

It lies in the northeastern part (5:46:57.3-14:49:19.0, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Lepus, the Hare -- northeast of Arneb (Alpha Leporis) and Nihal (Beta Leporis), west of Eta and Theta Leporis, and southeast of Saiph (Kappa Orionis).

NGC 2017 is a group of a half dozen stars, all gravitationally bound (h3780, see above). The "cluster" is found seven arc minutes due east of alpha Leporis.
