Astronomy Beta MonBeta Orionis

[5796] beta Ophiuchi is a K-type giant star, also known as Cebalrai ("shepherd dog"), Cheleb, Kelb Alrai or Alrai.
[5797] kappa Ophiuchi or Helkath ("battlefield") is a magnitude 3 variable star approximately 85 light-years distant.

CEBALRAI (Beta Ophiuchi). At the northern tip of Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer, lies Rasalhague, the bright Alpha star.

It is located in the eastern part (18:19:50.8-1:56:19.0, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Serpens (Cauda or the Tail), the Snake -- west of Alya (Theta1,2 Serpens), northeast of Eta Serpens, east of Cebalrai (Beta Ophiuchi) and Gamma Ophiuchi, ...

For example, the stars we know as Alpha and Beta Ophiuchi were regarded by the Arabs as a shepherd and his dog, while neighbouring stars made up the outlines of a field with sheep.
