The bright cirrus-like clouds of change rapidly, often forming and dissipating over several hours. In this sequence spanning two rotations of Neptune (~36 hours), Voyager 2 observed cloud evolution in the region around the Great Dark Spot.
Jet Stream Cirrus, Saudi Arabia
This series of cirrus clouds is know as "roll clouds" because they are sculpted into tight rolls by air currents from the jet stream over Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea.

He used Latin words to name clouds. He used words such as "cumulus" and "cirrus." Cumulus means "pile." Cumulus clouds look like piles of cotton balls.
Bright, wispy, cirrus-type clouds hovering near the Great Dark Spot are higher in altitude than the dark material, which defines its boundaries. A thin veil fills part of the spot's interior.
cirrus clouds (NASA Thesaurus) Cirriform clouds in the form of thin, white featherlike shapes in patches or narrow bands. They have a fibrous and/or silky sheen.
They resemble thin cirrus, but usually with a bluish or silverish color, although sometimes orange to red, standing out against a dark night sky. Sometimes called luminous clouds.
For galaxies, we must detect them at some wavelength and distinguish them from stars, planetary nebulae, galactic cirrus, and navigation satellites.
Ammonia freezes in the low temperature of Jupiter's upper atmosphere (-125°C or -193°F), forming the white cirrus clouds-zones, ovals, and plumes seen in many photographs transmitted by the Voyager spacecraft.

High, cold ice cloud such as Cirrus or Cumulonimbus show up bright white, lower warmer cloud such as Stratus or Stratocumulus show up as grey with intermediate clouds shaded accordingly. Hot land surfaces will show up as dark grey or black.
" Also, the southern edge of the jet stream will often contain ice formations or cirrus clouds that tend to help seeing at times and hinder it at other times. Irregular, disturbed cirrus clouds are not good.
Many forces are at work, at a variety of scales, to shape both the molecular clouds and cirrus features. At the large scale the Galaxy rotates, creating spiral patterns of stars, dust, and gas.

In 1984 IRAS identified a new type of diffuse molecular cloud.[9] These were diffuse filamentary clouds that are visible at high galactic latitudes (looking out of the plane of the galactic disc).

It is a depression in the atmosphere surrounded by high cirrus clouds. Neptune's Great Dark Spot does not appear to be stable, though. A few years after the Voyagers found it, it had disappeared (Hubble Space Telescope pictures at the right).
The white clouds apparently consist of frozen ammonia crystals and are thus analogous to the water-ice cirrus clouds in the Earth's atmosphere. The tawny clouds that are widely distributed over the planet occur at lower levels.

A giant hurricane (the Great Dark Spot, see right), with a diameter equal to the Earth's, was seen together with other cloud formations including some extensive, and very beautiful cirrus clouds high (50 km) above the main clouds.
Sometimes they float above the surface, sometimes they are connected with it by stems or branches, and they show delicate striated detail like cirrus cloud.
The earth's layer is located in the stratosphere. Ozone, a form of oxygen, is crucial to our survival; this layer absorbs a lot of solar energy. Only the highest clouds (cirrus, cirrostratus, and cirrocumulus) are in the lower stratosphere.
The spot was believed to have been rotating counterclockwise. Over the Great Dark Spot were concentrated regions of crystal methane and frozen water particle clouds that resemble cirrus clouds on Earth.
1987NH3 has been detected in the Draco Nebula and in one or possibly two molecular clouds which are associated with the high latitude galactic infrared cirrus.
