Coma Berenices is the home of M85, a lenticular galaxy that is part of the Virgo cluster of galaxies. It is very similar in appearance and brightness to M84. It was the site of a supernova in 1960 that reached a magnitude of 11.7.

When supernova 2005ap was seen to explode in a faint and distant dwarf galaxy in Coma Berenices in 2005, it posed something of a puzzle. It blew up 4.

Among those which can be detected with the unaided eye are the Hyades cluster in the constellation Taurus, the Coma Berenices cluster, the Pleiades cluster, and the Praesepe cluster.

CANES VENATICI (" The Hounds," or "the GREYHounds"), in astronomy, a constellation of the northern hemisphere named by Hevelius in 1690, who compiled it from the stars between the older asterisms Ursa Major, Bodtes and Coma Berenices.

Galaxies of many sizes and shapes form the Coma Cluster, a gravitationally bound collection of several thousand galaxies in the constellation Coma Berenices. The cluster is centered about 325 million light-years away.

Members of some of the closest can be seen with a small telescope in the constellations Virgo and Coma Berenices. We can trace clusters of galaxies out to the furthest distances that we can reach. Some of these clusters contain thousands of galaxies.

63 million light-years from us, the NGC 4414 lies in the constellation Coma Berenices; this image is about 2.4 arcminutes down, and the galaxy is about 56,000 light-years in diameter.

Turner's team observed it in a well-known galaxy named Markarian 766, about 170 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices (Bernice's Hair). The black hole in Markarian 766 is relatively small although highly active.

NGC 4414, a typical spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices, is about 17,000 parsecs in diameter and approximately 20 million parsecs distant.

Calendar which, in turn, led to being able to publishing other things. The latest project I've finished (and am now wondering how to publish) is a novel about Berenice, she whose hair was cut off to become the constellation Coma Berenices.

The two long tidal tails contain hundreds of regions of star formation, some the size of dwarf galaxies. The Mice (NGC4676) are located 300 million light years away in the constellation of Coma Berenices.

There are approximately stars in the Galaxy. The Galaxy's dimensions are 100,000 in diameter and thick. According to three recent independent studies, the lies north of the galactic plane, towards the Coma Berenices (Sky & Telescope 1996).
