CORVUS
The top two stars of Corvus, the Crow, point leftward toward the bright star Spica in Virgo. The bright star near lower center, Gamma Hydrae, is near the tail of Hydra, the Water Serpent, on which Corvus sits.

Corvus is a small, faint, and very old constellation.

Corvus depicts the Raven sent by Apollo to bring water in the Cup (Crater). Distracted by fig fruits, the bird eventually return with Water Snake (Hydra) as well, claiming the reptile to be the reason for his long delay.

Euctemon, according to Geminus of Rhodes, compiled a weather calendar in which Aquarius, Aquila, Canis major, Corona, Cygnus, Delphinus, Lyra, Orion, Pegasus, Sagitta and the asterisms Hyades and Pleiades are mentioned, always, however, in re Corvus.

The nearest and youngest example of a pair of colliding galaxies; the Antennae lie about 63 million light-years away in the constellation Corvus. Each galaxy's gravitational pull has drawn out a curved tail of stars from the other.

The Antennae Galaxies (also known as NGC 4038 and 4039) are a pair of distorted colliding spiral galaxies about 70 million light-years away, in the constellation of Corvus (The Crow).

Gamma Corvi (γ Crv / γ Corvi) is the brightest star in the constellation Corvus. Its traditional name is Gienah, however Epsilon Cygni has an identical traditional name.

Antennae Galaxies are a pair of interacting galaxies in the constellation Corvus.

Gienah derives from the Arabic Al Janah meaning "The Wing." The star should probably be called "Gienah Cygni" to distinguish it from the Gienah in Corvus.
