DELTA PER (Delta Persei). Dominated as it is by its two brightest stars, Mirfak and Algol (Alpha and Beta Persei), the next four stars of glorious Perseus, the mythical rescuer of Andromeda, are often ignored.

[6458] delta Persei, or Adid Borealis ("the northern one of the upper arm") is a blue giant about 530 light-years away. The star has another traditional name, Basel, which means "the brave one." ...

The stars alpha Persei, psi Persei, delta Persei, 48 Persei, mu Persei, and lambda Persei form Perseus' left arm and hand: delta Persei being of the third magnitude.

The star can be found next to Mirfak (Alpha Persei), northwest of Delta Persei, northeast of Algol (Beta Persei), and southwest of Tau, Eta, and Gamma Persei.

7, with current estimates stating its magnitude to be as high as 2.2 (1.6 times as bright). The actual figure is fairly subjective at this moment in time, though amateur astronomers say it compares well with the stars gamma persei and delta persei in ...
