Diffuse Nebula
Most nebulae can be described as diffuse nebulae, which means that they are extended and contain no well-defined boundaries. In astronomy, diffuse nebulae is the general term for illuminated nebulae.

Diffuse nebulae are extremely large structures, often many light-years wide, that have no definite outline and a tenuous, cloudlike appearance. They are either luminous or dark. The former shine as a result of the light of neighboring stars.

DIFFUSE NEBULA
A diffuse nebula is a wide, spread-out, irregularly-shaped cloud of gas (mostly hydrogen gas) in space that can be up to 100 light-years wide. This type of nebula can appear to be light or dark.
bright diffuse nebula in the constellation Orion; also known as the Great Nebula of Orion and cataloged as M42 or NGC 1976. It is located near the middle of the "sword" hanging from Orion's "belt" of stars.

The famous Lagoon Nebula, M8, is probably the best of the diffuse nebula and one of the finest in the sky. As it is of 6th mag the naked eye can see it in a dark night.
The Rosette Nebula, just to the east of Epsilon Mon and one of the most famed of diffuse nebulae, is illuminated (ionized) by hot stars within a whole young cluster at its hollowed-out center. The inner portion is seen here.

The Rosette Nebula, located near [5502] epsilon Monocerotis, is a large diffuse nebula illuminated by young, hot, blue stars. Like the Fox Fur Nebula, it has a red glow caused by emission of hydrogen.
It contains a diffuse nebula and several dark dust lanes known as the Eagle Nebula. The name comes from the shape of the nebula, which resembles a flying eagle.
