Draconic Month

Astronomy DracoDraconids

draconic month -- the time it takes for the Moon to return to a node (about 27.2 days).
eclipse -- the alignment of celestial bodies so that one is obscured, either partially or totally, by the other.

* approximately 242 draconic months (the period of the Moon to return to the ascending node of its orbit, i.e. cross the plane of Earth's orbit twice)
* 239 anomalistic months (period of the Moon to return to its perigee, i.e.

The Saros cycle of 18 years 11 days 8 hours is very useful for predicting the times at which nearly identical eclipses will occur, and is intimately related to three periodicities of the lunar orbit: the synodic month, the draconic month, ...

223 synodic months (6585.321 days) almost equal 242 draconic months (6585.357 days), a period of 18 years 10 and 1/3 (or 11 and 1/3) days -- depending on the number of intervening leap years.

Draconic month: the interval between two successive passages of the Moon through the same node of its orbit.
Anomalistic month: the time between successive perigee passages of the Moon.

The interval of time (27.2122 days) between two successive transits of the Moon through its ascending node. (also called Draconic month)
