There is a superstition that it is possible to stand an egg upright on its end on the date of the (and/or ). While this is true, it is also possible to stand an egg on its end at any other time of the year.

What's really going on?
The picture was taken in the mid infrared by the VISIR instrument on the Very Large Telescope. It has been dubbed the Fried Egg nebula, due to the star and its surrounding shells resembling a yolk and egg white.
