Epsilon Hydrae is a multiple binary; four stars can be seen and another has been calculated to exist.
Epsilon Hydrae (ε Hya) is a binary star with components of magnitudes 3.3 and 6.8, separated by 2.7 arcseconds. N Hydrae (N Hya) is a pair of stars of magnitudes 5.8 and 5.9. Struve 1270 (Σ1270) consists of a pair of stars, magnitudes 6.4 and 7.4.
Zeta and Epsilon Hydrae are the two bright stars in the head near the upper right, Zeta on the left. The bright star near the top to the right is Regulus in Leo (the Lion).

The northernmost of the six, Epsilon Hydrae, is a quintuple star - a system of five stars. M48 is a fairly faint, but large, open cluster of about 80 stars easily observed with binoculars.
