Ergosphere

Astronomy ErgEridanus

Ergosphere- region surrounding a spinning black hole, between the static limit and the outer event horizon, in which it is impossible to be at rest ...

ERGOSPHERE - Region around a rotating (Kerr) black hole, between the event horizon and the static limit, where rotational energy can be extracted from the black hole.

Ergosphere
The region surrounding a rotating black hole within one could not resist being dragged around the black hole. It is possible for a particle to escape from the erosphere and extract energy from the black hole.
Escape Velocity ...

Ergosphere
The region surrounding the event horizon (but inside the stationary limit) of a rotating Kerr black hole (see Ergoregion). [H76]

Within the ergosphere space-time is dragged around faster than light - general relativity forbids material objects to travel faster than light (so does special relativity), ...

This spinning area surrounding the event horizon is called the ergosphere and has an ellipsoidal shape. Since the ergosphere is located outside the event horizon, objects can exist within the ergosphere without falling into the hole.

A rotating black hole has more interesting possibilities, because there exists a region called the ergosphere, just outside the event horizon, ...

If a particle spirals into the ergosphere of a black hole in a direction counter to the rotation of the black hole, and if the particle then breaks up into two fragments inside the ergosphere, ...

If we send something to the inside of the ergosphere, and split it up into two parts, one goes in the black hole while the other comes out.

If a body is electrically charged or rotating, Schwarzschild's results are modified. An "ergosphere" forms outside the horizon, within which matter is forced to rotate with the black hole; in principle, energy can be emitted from the ergosphere.
