[717] theta Aurigae, sometimes also called Bogardus or Mahasim ("wrist"), is a binary star with an A-type main sequence dwarf for a primary component and a yellow G-type main sequence dwarf for its companion.

 


HAEDUS II (Eta Aurigae). Tucked to the south-southwest of Capella in Auriga is a small and beloved triangle of stars, the "Kids" to Capella's "she-goat.

The northern solstice point stands about halfway between the bright ruddy star Betelgeuse of the constellation Orion, and the star Theta Aurigae of the constellation Auriga.

The three stars Epsilon, Zeta and Eta Aurigae are called Haedi (the Kids).
Notable features
Two peculiar binary stars, ε Aurigae and ζ Aurigae. ε Aurigae is one of the strangest binary stars.
