ACHIRD (Eta Cassiopeiae). At almost fourth magnitude (3.44) and faint to the eye, and not a part of the traditional outline of Cassiopeia, Achird is often neglected. It is, however, among the glories of the celestial Queen's retinue.

[1891] rho Cassiopeiae and V509 Cassiopeiae are among the most luminous stars visible to the naked eye in the galaxy. [1883] eta Cassiopeiae is a binary star consisting of a yellow dwarf similar to our Sun and an orange dwarf.
