G-type star

Astronomy GrusGuide star

A G-type star system with two inhabited planets was part of Vidiian territory in 2372. The USS Voyager traveled through a plasma drift to avoid it. (VOY: "Deadlock") ...

G-Type Star
A star having a spectral type of G, that is, yellow, like the Sun.

Of those five hundred some G-type stars, astronomers believe that five have evolved out of the main sequence into giant stars, while an additional 78 or so may be subgiants (more on nearby giants and subgiants).

5 Diagram of the relative sizes and colors of a normal G-type star (such as our Sun) in its formative stages, on the main sequence, and while passing through the red-giant and white-dwarf stages.

It is a main sequence dwarf, a G-type star similar to our Sun, approximately 33 light-years from Earth. Another notable star, [5442] pi Mensae, is a subgiant and also a G-type star, 59 light-years distant.

For comparison, our Sun is a G-type star. The most habitable planets around these stars therefore may be ‘superearths' several times more massive than our planet, with stronger gravity for retaining an atmosphere, ...

A few especially stable fragments of molecules such as cyanogen (CN) and the hydroxyl radical (OH) persist in these stars and even in G-type stars such as the Sun.

YI (see for instance the line at 6435) appears in G-type stars and grows in intensity toward later types. There is a positive luminosity effect.

[34][35][9] Designated as ADS 94 B in the Aitken Double Star Catalogue, it is a G-type star with an apparent visual magnitude of approximately 10.8.

The double zeta Ret can be viewed with the naked eye or binoculars if the observing conditions are not too well. This pair consists of two G-type stars of 5th magnitude lying aproximately 40 light years away.

7 billion years old, these long main sequence lifetimes for M-type stars mean that every M star that has ever been created is still on the main sequence! The Sun, a G-type star with a main sequence lifetime of ~ 10 billion years, ...

If the brighter G-type star were to have an Earth-like planet, the dimmer K star would shine in the planet's sky with an orangy light of 5 full moons.

It is a G-type star. The sun visible in the sky is called apparent or true sun.
