BELLATRIX (Gamma Orionis). If constellations could speak, they might well shout "unfair" at great Orion.

It is also known as the Amazon Star, the warrioress, or Gamma Orionis. It was once thought to belong to the physical association of stars that comprise much of the constellation of Orion.

The left shoulder of Orion is marked by Gamma Orionis, known as Bellatrix, a Latin name meaning ‘the female warrior'. The star at the hunter's right knee, Kappa Orionis, is called Saiph.

The ultraviolet imaging spectrograph observed the star Gamma Orionis as Enceladus crossed in front of the star. The light of the star dimmed as it was obscured by the atmosphere before being blocked entirely by Enceladus itself.

The other corners of the constellation are formed by Bellatrix (gamma Orionis) and Saiph (kappa Orionis). It was once thought that all women born under the sign of Bellatrix would be fortunate and have the gift of speech.
