GAMMA SER (Gamma Serpentis). Part of the "X" structure that makes the head of Serpens (the Serpent), at the top of the western portion of constellation (Serpens Caput), lies otherwise unnamed Gamma Serpentis.

[7787] gamma Serpentis, a yellow-white dwarf, is about 36.3 light-years distant and also known by the name Ainalhai ("the eye of the serpent"). The star has two optical companions.
