HYADUM II (Delta-1 Tauri). Many proper star names are famed, while others are mightily obscure.

 


Ain (ε Tau), Aldebaran (α Tau), Alnath (β Tau), Hyadum I (γ Tau), Hyadum II (δ 1 Tau).
Constellations adjoining Taurus Aries, Auriga, Cetus, Eridanus, Gemini, Orion, Perseus.

[7940] gamma Tauri, or Hyadum I ("first Hyad") is another member of the Hyades cluster. It is a G class giant, 154 light-years distant.

The brightest star (Alpha Tau) in Taurus is Aldebaran, which is one of the bull's eyes (Aldebaran is the 13th brightest star in the sky). The second-brightest star in Taurus (Beta Tau) is Alnath, the third brightest (Gamma Tau) is Hyadum I.
