Lambda Orionis (between Betelgeuse and Bellatrix) is another fixed binary, with a 5.5 companion at PA 43º and 4.4" away.

 


[5981] lambda Orionis, also known as Meissa ("the shining one") and Heka ("a white spot"), is a binary star composed of a blue giant and a hot blue-white dwarf.

MEISSA (Lambda Orionis). One of the fainter stars to carry a proper name, Meissa is the Lambda star of Orion.

Meissa is a blue spectral type O giant star and is part of the Collinder 69 star cluster. It has an apparent visible magnitude 3.39 and is one of the most luminous stars known.

Class B
Class B stars are extremely luminous and blue. Their spectra have neutral helium, which are most prominent at the B2 subclass, and moderate hydrogen lines.
