Local Supercluster
The collection of clusters consisting of the , and Coma and Virgo clusters.
The Local Supercluster, often called the Virgo Supercluster, is the home of both Earth and the Milky Way Galaxy, along with a Large Structure called the Great Attractor.
The Local Supercluster is measured to be over 80 million lightyears across.

Local Supercluster
(a) The supercluster to which the Local Group belongs. It is shaped like a cigar, with the Virgo cluster of galaxies at its center and the Local Group near one end.

The Local Supercluster contains a huge number of individual galaxies"several tens of thousands"yet the great majority of known galaxy clusters and superclusters lie far beyond its edge. Figure 24.
Cosmographically, the Virgo Cluster is the nucleus of the Local Supercluster of galaxies, in whose outskirts we (in the Milky Way, in the Local Group) are situated.
The Local Group and Virgo cluster are part of a larger long, narrow group called the Local SuperCluster, sometimes called the Virgo Supercluster since the Virgo cluster is close to the middle.
However, outside the Local Supercluster of galaxies, neither individual stars nor clusters of stars have been observed.
Our cluster, the Local Cluster, is part of the Local Supercluster, which contains about 10 large (rich) clusters - our cluster is one of the many small clusters in it.

It is 50 million light-years from Earth (the closest major galactic cluster and the center of our Local Supercluster).
