M19

M19 = NGC6273 ( 17h 02.6m -26°16´, 7.2 mag.)
Discovered by Messier on June 5,1764, ...

M19 is seven degrees due east of Antares (alpha Sco), or two and a half degrees west of the bright double 36 Ophiuchi (and very slightly north, less than a degree).

Globular cluster M19 can be found in the constellation Ophiuchus. It is situated about 20,000 light-years from Earth and has a diameter of about 30 light-years. M19 lies very close to the galactic center, only 4,600 light-years from it in fact.

Ophiuchus contains several star clusters, such as IC 4665, NGC 6633, M9, M10, M12, M14, M19, M62, and M107, as well as the nebula IC 4603-4604. The unusual galaxy merger remnant NGC 6240 is also in Ophiuchus.
