MESARTHIM (Gamma Arietis). Shining third among the stars of the flat triangle that make the classical figure of Aries, the Ram (for that reason gaining the Gamma designation), ...

Gamma Arietis or Mesarthim (origin obscure) is a triple star that includes [638], a binary system with two white A-type main sequence stars, and [640], a K-type star orbiting the binary.

The double gamma Ari, commonly known as Mesarthim is an easy pair for small scopes. It consists of an B9 main sequence star of 4.83 mag and an A1pSi with 4.75 mag.

It can be found southeast of Hamal (Alpha Arietis), Sheratan (Beta Arietis), Mesarthim (Gamma Arietis), and spiral galaxy M 74; northeast of Alrescha (Alpha Piscium); and northwest of Lamda, Mu, Xi2, and Nu Ceti, ...

Named stars: Alpha Ari (Hamal/Elnath), Beta Ari (Elscheratain/Scheratan), Gamma Ari (Mesarthim/Mesartun), Delta Ari (Botein)
Info: Aries is one of the 13 zodiacal constellations (that is, the Sun passes through it in the course of the year).

This is one of the 13 constellations of the Zodiac.
