Musca, "The Fly", is a southern hemisphere constellation introduced by Johann Bayer. He called it Apis, "The Bee"; perhaps because of its similarity with "Apus", this name didn't stick.

Musca Borealis, the northern fly:
A small, obsolete constellation that was located just above Aries, the ram. The origin of the constellation is uncertain, although it probably was not created earlier than the beginning of the seventeenth century.

Oman, once known as Muscat and Oman, is a sultanate on the southeast side of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bounded on the north by the Gulf of Oman and on the east and south by the Arabian Sea. To the southwest is Yemen. To the west is Saudi Arabia.

The southern border finds Musca and Crux.

12 constellations were added around 1600 by Johann Bayer in his star atlas, Uranometria, including Dorado (the Swordfish), Musca (the Fly) and Volans (the Flying Fish).

Whereas Cassiopeia's throne reigns at the northern terminus of the Milky Way, the Milky Way's southern terminus is the dominion the constellations Crux and Musca the Fly.
