Normal Spiral Galaxy - A galaxy in which the spiral arms emerge from the nucleus ...

An otherwise normal spiral galaxy with an unusually bright, small core that fluctuates in brightness; believed to indicate the core is erupting.

Rectified images of the galaxy show a fairly normal spiral galaxy with the arms wound up in a clockwise direction. There are two continuous trailing arms that are separated from each other by a minimum of about 13,000 light-years (8.2E+8 AU).

This object was once a normal spiral galaxy, like our own Milky Way. Now, a ring of bright, blue stars can be seen wrapped around a yellow nucleus.

A galaxy with characteristics that are intermediate between those of a normal spiral galaxy and a lenticular galaxy. Anemic spirals have smooth, weak spiral arms and a reduced rate of star formation linked to their deficiency in neutral hydrogen gas.

Seyfert Galaxy: A galaxy that appears to be a normal spiral galaxy, but whose core fluctuates in brightness. It is believed that these fluctuations are caused by powerful eruptions in the core of the galaxy.

The stars in the Seyfert's galactic disk and spiral arms produce about the same amount of visible radiation as those of a normal spiral galaxy.

Seyfert galaxy: An otherwise normal spiral galaxy with an unusually bright, small core that fluctuates in brightness; believed to indicate the core is erupting.

A pinwheel structure, composed of dust, gas, and young stars, that winds its way out from the core of a normal spiral galaxy and from the ends of the bar in a barred spiral galaxy.
Spiral Galaxy ...

The normal spiral galaxy has sets of arms spiraling way from the center of the galaxy.

Thus, it is not surprising that the nuclei of galaxies that are actively forming stars are rich in molecular gas. Indeed, some starburst nuclei may contain as much molecular gas as an entire normal spiral galaxy.

It is a normal spiral galaxy of class Sb, with a diameter now reckoned to be probably less than 100,000 light-years, and a strong but obscure energy source at the center (emitting infrared radiation). It is undergoing galactic rotation.
