Oceanus Procellarum, Latin for "Ocean of Storms", is a vast lunar mare on the western edge of the near side of Earth's Moon. Its name derives from the old superstition that its appearance during the second quarter heralded bad weather.

OCEANIC PLATES
The crust of the Earth is broken into plates. The plates are enormous chunks of rock that float atop the soft mantle. The plates are moving at a speed that has been estimated at 1 to 10 cm per year.

Oceans cover 71% of the Earth's surface. It is from these waters that life first emerged, which in turn, it is theorized, was brought to the waters by asteroids during the early days of the solar system.

Eridanus, the River, the embodiment of the Greek's "River Ocean," unlike real rivers has two ends. It now terminates in the brilliant first magnitude star Achernar (Alpha Eridani), the name from an Arabic phrase that means "the end of the river.

Jupiter's icy moon Europa almost certainly has a liquid water ocean beneath the surface even though its five times further from the Sun than we are.
