More on Open Cluster
Star Cluster - a group of stars near each other in space and resembling each other in certain characteristics that suggest a common origin for the group.

Open Cluster Celebration
Last week, we talked a little about open clusters, and got to examine two of them, the famous Double Cluster in Perseus.

Open clusters - NGC objects 4755, 265, 290 & 6231
Why Open Clusters are Important ...

An open cluster is characterized by the fact that the stars are not gravitationally bound. Although the stars in an open cluster are believed to have formed together, they will eventually separate due to the rotation of the Milky Way.

An open cluster is a group of up to a few thousand stars that were formed from the same giant molecular cloud, and are still loosely gravitationally bound to each other.

Open Star Cluster
Open star clusters are groups of stars which formed from the same huge cloud of gas and dust.

Our own star makes daylight that removes the other stars from view. Rather than look at Sun's physical nature, examine here its marvelous effects as it plays with and off the air.

Open Cluster
(a) A small, loose cluster of stars that typically contains several hundred members. The best examples are the Hyades and the Pleiades, both in the constellation Taurus.

Open Cluster: An open cluster consists of about a few hundred stars, the stars are mainly younger stars. The typical diameter of an open cluster is less than 100 light years.

OPEN CLUSTER - Cluster of stars usually containing several 100 members packed into a region usually less than 20 light years in size. They are normally found near regions of star formation in the spiral arms of galaxies.

Open star cluster A loose association of stars numbering from a few dozen to hundreds.
Opposition When a celestial body is opposite the Sun in the sky.
Orbit The path followed by one body as it moves around another.

Open cluster
A diffuse association of a few dozen to a few thousand stars, all of which were born together and which travel through space together. The Pleiades in Taurus and Beehive Cluster in Cancer are familiar examples.

open cluster

opposition

Open Star Cluster
A cluster of 10 to 10,000 stars with an open, transparent appearance. The stars are not tightly grouped. Usually relatively young and located in the disk of the galaxy.

Open Cluster
a collection of young stars that formed together. They may or may not be still bound by gravity. Some of the youngest open clusters are still embedded in the gas and dust from which they formed.

Open Cluster
A loose array (though some can be remarkably compact) of tens to thousands of stars located near each other in space. Open clusters are weakly bound gravitationally and tend to gradually disperse over periods of millions of years.

Open Cluster. A loose association of stars with no clearly defined shape. Often referred to as 'Galactic Clusters' since they are all found close to the galactic plane (of our galaxy).

open orbit: An orbit that does not return to its starting point; an escape orbit. (See closed orbit.)
open universe: A model universe in which the average density is less than the critical density needed to halt the expansion.

Open Cluster
Also known as a galactic cluster, an open cluster consists of numerous young stars that formed at the same time within a large cloud of interstellar dust and gas. Open clusters are located in the spiral arms or the disks of galaxies.

Open star cluster NGC 6025
General:
This nice little constellation is located close to circumpolar regions of the south pole of the sky. It is lying between DECL=-60 degrees and DECL=-70 degrees and RA=17h and RA=15h.

Open Clusters are also called Galactic Clusters and contain about 1000 stars or so. There are probably around 20,000 open clusters in our galaxy, and most are found in the main body of the galaxy (the plane).

open universe Geometry that the universe would have if the density of matter were less than the critical value. In an open universe there is not enough matter to halt the expansion of the universe. An open universe is infinite in extent.

OPEN CLUSTER
An open cluster is a loose collection of up to about 1,000 relatively young stars that formed around the same time. An open cluster is about 10 parsecs across. Examples include the Pleiades and Hyades.

Open models can have an age for the universe ranging from the Hubble time down to 2/3 the Hubble time. The flat model has an age exactly equal to 2/3 the Hubble time, and the closed models have ages less than this.

The open-loop receivers select a band of frequencies to amplify for further processing and storage by RS or VLBI equipment. VLBI equipment typically outputs data to tapes that are delivered to a correlator at a different location.

The open cluster NGC 6530 is contained in the eastern part of the nebula. The young cluster (only several million years old) is nicely contrasted against the nebula.

The open cluster represents young stars, relatively recently formed, and these clusters are located in the disk of the Milky Way (the location of all recent star formation). Open clusters typically have 100 to 1000 stars.
