Ophiuchus (known as the serpent holder) is one of the 88 constellations, and was also one of the 48 listed by Ptolemy.
Ophiuchus (pronounced /ˌ'fiːˈjuːkəs/ phichus, genitive Ophiuchi /ˌ'fiːˈjuːkaɪ/; Greek Ὀφιοῦχος) is a large constellation located around the celestial equator.

There is some disagreement over the origin of this constellation. Apparently it was once known as Asclepius, who was the Greek god of medicine.

In a golden field guide, I read that the Sun spends more time in the constellation Ophiuchus than in Scorpius right now, because of the precession of the equinoxes. I believe this is incorrect.
