SABIK (Eta Ophiuchi). At the dim end of second magnitude (2.43), and (after Rasalhague, Alpha Ophiuchi) the second brightest star in Ophiuchus, Sabik still received the lowly Eta appellation from Bayer.
Sabik is a close binary star system. The primary Sabik A is a white A2V main sequence star with a luminosity of about 36 time s that of the sun. Sabik B is a slightly smaller A3V main sequence star having a luminosity about 23 times that of the sun.
[5793] eta Ophiuchi or Sabik is a binary system comprised of two main sequence stars. It is the northern pole star to Uranus.
