SAIF AL JABBAR (Eta Orionis). While Orion's Belt is the most striking part of the great Hunter, the area just below it is equally intriguing. Immediately south (and in the Sword) we find the Orion Nebula.
The name Saiph derives from the Arabic Saif al Jabbar meaning "The Sword of the Giant." Description of the Star Saiph is a blue B0.5Ia supergiant star having about 6000 times the luminosity of the sun and 11 times the diameter.
