Schmidt Camera
Telescopic camera incorporating an internal corrective lens or plate that compensates for optical defects and chromatic faults in the main mirror. The system was invented by Bernhard Schmidt.

Schmidt camera - (n.)
A type of telescope that uses a spherical mirror and a thin lens to provide photographs of a wide field.

Nasmyth
The Nasmyth design is similar to the Cassegrain except no hole is drilled in the primary mirror; instead, a third mirror reflects the light to the side.

The Schmidt camera telescope, invented in 1930 by Bernard Schmidt, is a catadioptric system used for wide-angle photography of star fields.

I should mention at this time that there were several Schmidt camera observations scattered throughout the Spring. The first time the Schmidt camera was utilized occurred in March. I don't recall the exact date. Attending were Nils, John, A.J.

This image of comet Hale-Bopp was taken by John Laborde with his home designed and built, 8.8" f/3.7 Wright Schmidt Camera.

Reflecting telescopes (called "reflectors") come in five main configurations: prime focus, Newtonian, Cassegrain, Coudé, and Schmidt camera. The Ritchey-Chrétien design is also used.

The S-matrix relates the incoming and out-going states of elementary particles during interactions and scattering experiments. The mathematical structure and properties of the S-matrix has received considerable attention. [P88]
