Sculptor Group The group of galaxies including NGC 55, NGC 247, NGC 253, and NGC 300.
Sculptor Group The nearest group of galaxies to the Local Group, 4 to 10 million light-years away. Its brightest member is the beautiful edge-on spiral NGC 253. Sculptor Dwarf ...
Cepheids have been measured from the ground throughout the Local Group (which Hubble could do - the astronomer, not the telescope), and can be detected in the M81 and Sculptor groups, and more recently in M101 at a distance of 7 Mpc (Cook, Aaronson, ...
This is a member of the so-called Sculptor Group, which is one of the nearest galaxy clusters closest to the Milky Way, at about 8 million light years. NGC 253 is considered one of the easiest spiral galaxies to observe, apart from M31 in Andromeda.
Sculptor group galaxy NGC 300 AAT 82. NGC 1360, diffuse planetary nebula in Fornax AAT 102. NGC 55, an edge-on galaxy in the Sculptor Group AAT 118. NGC 1316-17, the radio galaxy Fornax A UKS 13. The Fornax Cluster of galaxies ...
The Sculptor Dwarf is a dwarf elliptical galaxy that belongs to both the Local Group of galaxies as well as the Sculptor Group, which is the closest neighbour to the Local Group.
NGC 300 is a spiral galaxy similar to our own Milky Way. It is a member of a nearby group of galaxies known as the "Sculptor Group" - named for the constellation in which it is observed.
However, the group is very dynamic and membership of the Group is probably changing over time as galaxies interact with, and move between, other nearby groups such as the Maffei 1 Group, the Sculptor Group, and the M81 and M83 Groups.
1. A faint constellation in the southern sky. 2. A dwarf galaxy that orbits the Milky Way in the constellation Sculptor. It is 255,000 light-years from the Galactic center. [C95] Sculptor Group ...
