[7526] sigma Scorpii is also known as Al Niyat ("the arteries"), a name it shares with [7524] tau Scorpii. It is another multiple star, 735 light-years distant. Its primary component is a blue-white giant classified as a Beta Cephei variable.
It is flanked by two stars that together are Al Niyat, the one to the upper right Sigma Scorpii, the one to the lower left Tau Scorpii.
