The star Delta Pegasi (labeled "Sirrah" in the map), one of the 4 stars in Pegasus' square, is now considered to be part of Andromeda, (α Andromedae) and is more usually called "Alpheratz.
Other names for this star are Alpherat, Sirrah, or Sirah. These names derive from the Arabic phrase Al Surrat al Faras meaning "The Horse's Navel." The name is appropriate to the location of the star in the figure of Pegasus, The Flying Horse.
Its northernmost star, Sirrah, was incorparated into Andromeda when the constellation boundaries were formalized in the 1930s; it used to be delta (δ) Pegasi.
" It is also known as Alpheratz or Sirrah, both names derived from the Arabic name "surrat al-faras," meaning 'the navel of the horse.' Because of its location, immediately northeast of the Pegasus constellation, it is also known as delta Pegasi.
The asterism consists of the brightest star, Alpheratz (or Sirrah) denoting Andromeda's head, and the rest of the principal stars marking other parts of the young woman's body.
