Steady state theory
In cosmology, the steady state theory (also known as the Infinite Universe Theory or continuous creation) is a model developed in 1948 by Fred Hoyle, Thomas Gold, ...

Steady State Theory:
The steady-state theory is a view that the universe is always expanding but maintaining a constant average density, ...

Steady State Theory
the theory that suggests the universe is expanding but exists in a constant, unchanging state in the large scale. The theory states that new matter is being continually being created to fill the gaps left by expansion.

Steady State Theory - A cosmological theory in which the universe always remains the same in its essential features, such as average density.

Steady State Theory
(a) Theory that the expanding Universe was never in a state of appreciably higher density - i.e.

The Steady State Theory, developed in 1948, concluded the Universe had no beginning and no end. This theory describes an expanding Universe that stays in perfect balance like a pool kept full to overflowing by a trickle from a faucet.

The de Sitter solution is the same as that used in the steady state theory, except that the scalar field in that theory is the so-called C-field responsible for the continuous creation of matter.

The interpretation of the cosmic microwave background was a controversial issue in the 1960s with some proponents of the steady state theory arguing that the microwave background was the result of scattered starlight from distant galaxies.

At the time he coined the term, Hoyle was advocating another theory that used the perfect cosmological principle called the Steady State theory. So at the time, Hoyle's "Big Bang" term was made in joking disdain.

Q: 1.what is cosmology? 2. what is the Steady State theory? 3.where did the term BIG BANG come from? 4. how fast does light move? 5.what is a light year? 6. what is a read shift and a blueshift?

Hoyle was a firm believer in the alternative steady state theory which gives the universe no start or end. However the name stuck and the term Big Bang is now widely used although the irony has been lost.

who, by reversing the observed expansion, concluded that the Universe must have began in an initially very hot, dense state. Fred Hoyle, a non-believer, is credited with first mockingly coining the term 'Big Bang', as he favoured steady state theory ...
