Submillimetre astronomy
Submillimetre astronomy or submillimeter astronomy (see spelling differences) is the branch of observational astronomy that is conducted at submillimetre wavelengths.

The progress of infrared astronomy and submillimetre astronomy has "opened" additional star systems. Infrared searches have detected belts of dust and asteroids around distant stars, underpinning the formation of planets.
