Zeta Dra also sits at the third of the twists or "nodes" of the Dragon, and is hence "Nodus III," I, II, and IV being Grumium (Xi Dra in the Dragon's head), Altais (Delta Dra), and Theta Dra (or possibly Edasich, Iota).

NGC 5985 is midway between iota and theta Draconis; (NGC 5982 is in the same field to the west. This elliptical gallaxy is considerably smaller but about the same magnitude, around 12).

The star lies in the southeastern part (15:24:55.8+58:57:57.8, ICRS 2000.0) of Constellation Draco (see chart and photo), the Dragon -- west of Theta Draconis, southeast of Thuban (Alpha Draconis), and south of the Big Dipper (or Plough).
