Triangulum Australe, the Southern Triangle, lies within the flowing southern Milky Way. Atria, Alpha TrA, is the orange-colored star toward the upper left.

Triangulum Australe, "The Southern Triangle", is one of the few constellations which has an obvious asterism. It was introduced by Johann Bayer in 1603.

Triangulum Australe, the southern triangle:
Unlike its northern counterpart, Triangulum, this constellation is a modern creation. Created in 1603 by Johann Bayer, it is meant to represent the triangle tool used by carpenters and navigators.

A giant K star and the brightest star in the constellation Triangulum Australe. There are indications of strong flare activity on its surface, and a small and faint binary companion has recently been detected.
