Zenithal Hourly Rate

zenithal hourly rate
the number of meteorites expected to be seen per hour when a meteor shower's radiant is at an observer's zenith; abbreviated ZHR
zodiac ...

Zenithal Hourly Rate (ZHR) The theoretical hourly rate of meteors which would be observed at the peak of a shower, by an experienced observer, with the radiant at the zenith, under skies with a limiting naked eye magnitude of 6.5.

Zenithal Hourly Rate - (ZHR).
It is the number of meteors per hour, for a particular stream, that is estimated will be seen under favourable seeing conditions if the radiant were directly overhead the observer.

This is known as the zenithal hourly rate (ZHR) and is a measure of the concentration of material in the stream. This changes from year to year as the meteor stream constantly evolves.
