The zero point for RA is one of the points where the ecliptic circle intersects the celestial equator circle.

zero point energy (NASA Thesaurus) Kinetic energy retained by molecules of a substance at a temperature of absolute zero. zero-g (NASA SP-7, 1965) = weightlessness.

The zero point of the photographic magnitude scale is such that photographic (mpg) and visual (mv) magnitudes are the same for stars of class A0 of magnitudes between 5.5 and 6.5.

They calibrate the slope of the T-F relation for the Virgo cluster and nearby groups, and set the zero point from M31 whose distance is independently known.

Now put both students in motion at the same time, with both starting at their own zero point. Note that they make a straight line with each other and the Sun. Clap once. Stop and notice how far around each is.

Both RA and longitude measure an east-west angle along the equator; and both measure from an arbitrary zero point on the equator.

astronomical coordinate system in which the principal axis is the galactic equator (the intersection of the plane of the Milky Way with the celestial sphere) and the reference points are the north galactic pole and the zero point on the galactic ...

The temperature of a gas is proportional to the average energy of each of its particles (the formula, by the way, is E = 3/2 kT, where T is the absolute temperature in degrees Kelvin--like Celsius, just different zero point--and k is a fixed number, ...

The Kelvin temperature scale sets its zero point at absolute zero (-273.15° on the Celsius scale, and -434.07° on the Fahrenheit scale). [HH98] ...

Measured in Hours, Minutes, and Seconds, it is the arc between the zero point of right ascension (the first point in Aries, just as the zero point for longitude on the Earth is the prime meridian) and the object.

Such a scale has as its zero point absolute zero, the theoretical temperature at which the molecules of a substance have the lowest energy.

So with a little knowledge of the log function, we can tell where the zero point of the magnitude system is. When the flux of the star is the same as the standard, then we have:
m = -2.5 log(1)
m = -2.5 * 0
m = 0 ...

right ascension Celestial coordinate used to measure longitude on the celestial sphere. The zero point is the position of the Sun on the vernal equinox.
rille A ditch on the surface of the Moon where molten lava flowed in the past.

GALACTIC COORDINATES (l, b) - Coordinate system based on the plane of the Galaxy, it is centered on the Sun with the zero point of longitude and latitude pointing directly at the galactic centre.

The Doppler technique was only accurate to the order of 10 metres, and so this imposes a limit on the accuracy with which the zero point can be set. Various geodetic frames set up using Doppler differ among themselves in origin by 10-20 metres.

This surface will be used throughout this article as a zero point for altitudes.
Internal heat
Uranus' internal heat appears markedly lower than that of the other giant planets; in astronomical terms, it has a low thermal flux.

For a monatomic gas at low temperatures, the only accessible modes correspond to the translational motion of the atoms, so all of the energy is due to movement of the atoms (Actually, a small amount of energy, called the Zero Point Energy arises due ...

The zero point for celestial longitude (that is, for right ascension) is the Vernal Equinox, which is that intersection of the ecliptic and the celestial equator near where the Sun is located in the Northern Hemisphere Spring.

The meaning of this point is equal to the meaning of the null meridian at Greenwich: it is the zero point of the right ascension.
